A New Year with new opportunities (2022)

As I approach my 40th birthday this year, I’m taking a step back to reflect on my professional goals and aspirations. It’s been a long but rewarding journey that started in New York City and took me through several countries before landing me in Oregon.

The past year has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and I have come to value the importance of taking care of my physical and emotional well-being. I’m now a big proponent of remote work, which was a surprise to even myself.

Over the past two years, I’ve worked for a strange organization that functions more like startup but has been 20 years in the making. Despite its age, the company lacked established processes, standards, and direction. With the help of a great CEO, we were able to bring structure and stability to the organization, but the journey took a toll on both myself and the CEO. Despite the challenges, I was able to work with some amazing people and gained valuable experience.

One of the highlights of the last two years was a trip to Alaska, which I have written about in a previous post. Aside from that, I made the best of the COVID-era by staying home and embracing the new normal.

As I look ahead to 2022, I’m eager for new opportunities and growth in my professional life.
